The A47 Alliance Steering Group met on the 27 June 2025.
At the meeting, updates were provided on the current funding and political landscape following the Spending Review in June 2025 and key announcements from Government we expect to come forward. These include RIS3, the Transport Infrastructure Portfolio Review, devolution, the Integrated National Transport Strategy and local plans.
The A47 Alliance also received updates from National Highways on the schemes underway and the RIS3 programme. The Elm High Road A1101/A47 Junction improvement is identified as a pipeline scheme however funding is not yet committed to this. The A47 Alliance has since written to the Minister calling for the scheme to be committed to in the upcoming RIS3.
Updates on recent campaigning activity and upcoming plans was also provided at the meeting. Since the meeting in the winter, the A47 Alliance met with the Minister for Future of Roads, met with National Highways and DfT officials to pick up actions following the Minister meeting, published a new brochure, sent letters to the new Mayors and obtained strong support from Paul Bristow, Mayor of the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority.
Plans for the campaign over the next few months include business engagement in Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk, revisiting the business case to ensure it fits with the Government's objectives, and encouraging MPs to raise the profile of the A47 campaign in Westminster.
