Removal of funding for Vauxhall Junction improvements

The Autumn Budget 2024 announced that funding has been removed for the A47 Vauxhall Junction improvement scheme in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

The A47 Alliance have written to the Future of Roads Minister, Lilian Greenwood MP, and Secretary of State for Transport, Louise Haigh MP, to express our disappointment in the decision and to call on Government to reinstate the funding for the important scheme which will cut congestion and increase capacity at the roundabout.

The scheme was originally funded from the Roads Investment Strategy 1 (RIS1) in 2014 and was due to be delivered between 2015 and 2020. The scheme was delayed to take into account the impacts of the Third River Crossing on the roundabout. The improved roundabout (as a result of the scheme) would be compatible with a dualled Acle Straight which is also a key priority of the A47 Alliance.

The A47 Alliance will continue to lobby central Government to recommit to funding and delivering this important scheme.
