The A47 Alliance Steering Group met for their second meeting of the year on 15 March 2024. The agenda included a useful update from National Highways on the progress of the RIS1 funded A47 schemes which includes:
Improvements to Harfreys Roundabout in Great Yarmouth and the Guyhirn Junction improvements in Cambridgeshire have been completed. Planning for the start of works on the three Norfolk A47 schemes currently held in legal challenge has begun following the legal appeal's dismissal in February.
An insightful presentation was also given by the Department for Transport where officers provided information on the progress of Government's RIS3 document and upcoming milestones and decisions.
Norfolk County Council also gave an update on the recent activities to build the A47 Alliance campaign, as well as plans in the pipeline for the campaign in 2024 which will have a key focus on raising awareness of the need for dualling in Westminster and amongst key decision makers on RIS3.
A call was also put out to encourage people to submit testimonials on why they support A47 dualling. You can do this via our website here.
If you would like to submit a blog post on the importance of A47 dualling for you, please contact the A47 Alliance mailbox via a47alliance@norfolk.gov.uk.
